No Same in NRG’s Side Event Game

As you may have read in the 2024 NRG Series Announcement, side events grew faster than any other area of the series. To give you the thanks you deserve, more ways to play and other changes are coming to side events.

The “Great Eight” enhancements are the following:

1. NRG Sides is Crossing the Cardboard Streams – More Games to Play (Introducing Lorcana at Lunchtime)
2. NRG Sides is also Stream Lining & Focusing on Pre-Registration.
3. NRG Sides is offering RC Invites by playing “Sealed” each day.
4. NRG Sides is “Lifting Up Legacy” (with NRG Series Points)
5. NRG Sides is Belting Out “ODEs to Joy” (Bespoke ODEs at every event).
6. NRG Sides will Immortalize Big Winners in 2024.
7. NRG Sides will have “Last Call” 1 Round Drafts after the last scheduled side until 7pm.
8. NRG Sides will Communicate every repeating side event with Explainer Videos.

Play in the Lorcana $1K the FIRST Cash event available as a Side Event in 2024

Lorcana at Lunchtime

Put on your best princess dress, grab you deck, and win cash prizes before the ink dries playing Lorcana at Lunchtime.

Because this event is being tested, a minimum of 25 payers is required. Enrollment for the event will be $30. And, pre-registration is available online for Lorcana $1K here.

Online Pre-Registrations was tested in 2023 and will expand in 2024.

With only a short delay on the weekend of an event, the link http://bit.ly/NRGSides will always display the next available group of side events.  And that page will have offering details and product hyperlinks to the main pre-registration page. When you pre-order, side events will either have your name on a list or if you enroll on site, you can show your receipt for fast access to play.

Want to Win and Invite to the RC Cracking Play Boosters?

The powers that be have granted us an opportunity to test having a Sealed ReCQ alongside the Format Specific ReCQ.  This is especially exciting for someone who wants to earn and invite and prefers not to play in the format of the main event. Starting with Murder of Karlov Manor, sealed ReCQs will use whatever is the most recent Standard legal set or RCQ legal specialty set. The price structure will follow that of all NRG ReCQs.

Note: Starting with April’s ReCQ, players who are already qualified for the RC may compete and at that point NRG Series Points will be awarded for every match win in all ReCQs–Sealed or main event format matching.

Earn NRG Series Points in the Sunday Legacy Celebration Event

Throughout 2024, the Sunday Legacy Celebration will be offering NRG points. The Legacy Celebration is an up to 6-round swiss tournament that uses sudden death rules–this means there can be no draws in the round. Players will earn 1 NRG point per match win as well as other prizes through the top 16.  These events have a both a minimum cap of 25 players and a maximum cap of 64.

You Game to Experience Joy: Get more with ODEs

Any playgroup can reach out to sides@nerdragegaming.com to have special ODEs created. If it requires product, NRG will offer to source the product for you.

Whatever it is and however you want to play, that’s a GREAT way to do spark joy.  And, NRG Sides will make it happen..  All that is required is you have a group of at least 8+ (or 4+ for Commander/EDH).  In many cases 100% of the funds will go into product and/or prize pool.

The Big Winners will be Immortalized

Starting in 2024, there will be a “Big Winner’s” page on NRG that will capture the history of those big winners.  Did you grind for an uncut sheet of magic cards, an oversized card trophy, or spike a ReCQ and take the credit? You’ll have a link featuring your bragging rights that will be updated within 14 days of the event you won.

Further, there’s a chance that you and your prize picture may be featured on the next printing of our Prize Tix!

Last Call for Fun for All Drafts until 7pm

After the last main scheduled side event launches, other events need to be FAST! And that’s why the “Last Call” Drafts are coming to NRG Sides. These drafts are 1 round and everyone gets the prizes the moment the draft pod is formed. The exactly cost and prize breakdown will depend on the product being drafted. However, if you want to grind it out to the late hours because your ride is in top 8, you can call for a draft that can start as late as 7pm.

Clearer Communication of Side Event Offerings & Wrapping Up 

Sometime before Q3 of 2024, there will be explainer videos for all the common side event offerings. These videos will answer the common questions and will act as a resource to help you make your best side event enrollment decisions.
