Announcing the NRG Series MTGO Opens

After the positive feedback we received from the NRG Series MTGO Invitational, we’re excited about continuing to run online events while the NRG Series is on hiatus from paper events. We’ve partnered with our friends at MTG Melee to run events through Magic Online with the same quality and professionalism that you’ve come to expect from the NRG Series.

Players can participate in NRG Series MTGO Opens by subscribing to our Patreon page. Supporters at any tier (Basic or Gold) earn free entry into up to one MTGO Open each month. Supporters at our Gold tier can also join an assortment of NRG Series staff and commentators for a monthly live hangout where we’ll talk about Magic and more! Once you’ve supported the NRG Series on Patreon, simply link your Patreon account to MTG Melee for access to our events.

The NRG Series MTGO Open #1 is Pioneer (with Ikoria!) and will be held next Sunday, April 26, 2020. The event has a minimum of $500 store credit in the prize pool, and we’ll double it if we have 100 players register! You can view more information on the MTG Melee page for this event. Players will not earn NRG Series leaderboard points for their participation in these events.

As you’ve come to expect from the NRG Series, we’ll be bringing you professional-level coverage from each NRG Series MTGO Open event. As with the MTGO Invitational, the coverage for MTGO Open #1 will not be live. Rather, we’ll broadcast our favorite matches from the tournament and each Top 8 match on Twitch over the course of two weeks. Stay tuned to our Facebook and Twitter for our broadcast schedule!

We’re looking forward to the new look of NRG Series as we move to Magic Online for the time being. Thanks for sticking by us and helping us showcase competitive Magic in whatever form we can get it in. If you have any questions, feel free to ask us on Facebook or Twitter or email NRG Series coordinator Max Kahn at max@nerdragegaming.com.
